About this block

ASCII Render HeroPRO

A developer tool hero over the ascii-render component: a rotating lattice form and drifting noise are raymarched into a low-res cell buffer, then printed with a monospace glyph ramp in the theme's foreground with primary highlights, and cells light up around the cursor. A headline, an intro, an Arrow Pill and an underline link sit on the quiet side. Every scene setting passes through the ascii prop; colors follow the theme, it pauses offscreen, shows a still frame for reduced motion and falls back to a dot grid without WebGL.

Hero209: ASCII Render Hero

A developer tool hero over the ascii-render component, which raymarches a rotating form and drifting noise into a low-res cell buffer and prints it with a monospace glyph ramp, lighting cells around the cursor, while a headline, an intro and two buttons sit on the quiet side.

Base UI flavor

bash
npx shadcn add "https://ui.beste.co/r-base/hero209?email=YOUR_EMAIL&license_key=YOUR_KEY"

This installs the block to components/beste/block/hero209.tsx plus the ascii-render background and the button23 and button2 buttons it uses.

Quick start

The installed file exports hero209Demo alongside the block: the exact props behind the preview above. Spread it to get a working hero in one line.

tsx
import { Hero209, hero209Demo } from "@/components/beste/block/hero209";

export default function Page() {
  return <Hero209 {...hero209Demo} />;
}

Then replace the demo with your own props. Written out, a trimmed setup looks like this:

tsx
import { Hero209 } from "@/components/beste/block/hero209";

export default function Page() {
  return (
    <Hero209
      eyebrow="Remote build cache for monorepos"
      heading="Your builds, already done."
      description="Fingerprint every task in your monorepo and replay the output from cache."
      buttons={[
        { label: "Start for free", href: "/signup" },
        { label: "Read the docs", href: "/docs" },
      ]}
      ascii={{
        inkColor: "var(--foreground)",
        paperColor: "var(--background)",
        accentColor: "var(--primary)",
        scene: "lattice",
        align: "right",
        cellSize: 14,
      }}
    />
  );
}

Props

PropTypeDefaultDescription
eyebrowstring–Small line above the heading
headingstring–Headline, rendered as the page h1
descriptionstring–Intro under the heading
buttonsActionButton[][]The first renders as a primary Button23 arrow pill, the rest as Button2 links with an up-right arrow
asciiOmit<AsciiRenderProps, "className" | "children">–Forwards the AsciiRender component's props: inkColor, paperColor, accentColor, glyphs, cellSize, scene, align, size, spin, speed, drift, scanLine, contrast, interactive, glow, glowSize, paused
classNamestring–Extra classes for the outer <section>
ts
type ActionButton = {
  label: string;
  href: string;
};

Behavior notes

  • The scene fills the section behind the copy. A gradient from background runs top to bottom on phones and left to right across 60% of the width from md, so the text side stays quiet; pair it with align: "right".
  • On phones a 400px spacer under the copy leaves room for the form to show.
  • Colors accept CSS variables, so the demo's var(--foreground), var(--background) and var(--primary) follow the theme.
  • The loop pauses offscreen or in a hidden tab, and cells grow larger when frames run slow.
  • With reduced motion, the surface shows a still frame and the copy skips its rise-in. Without WebGL, it falls back to a dot grid.
